Chris Thompson was born and raised in Sonora, California, Chris moved to Hermosa Beach in 1986 at age 16. An avid surfer, runner, baseball player, golfer, and Champion wrestler, he graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1988. Chris was inspired to become a firefighter after watching the heroic efforts of local firefighters who put out the Redondo Beach Pier Fire in 1988. Chris received an A.S. degree in Fire Science in 1992, was an EMT and a 1993 graduate of the South Bay Fire Academy. He was a firefighter for Northrop Aviation and a Torrance Auxiliary Firefighter prior to being accepted as a member of the Firefighter Recruit Class of 1995.
