Cpt. Mike Tracy was raised in Torrance, graduated from Torrance High and pursued a lifelong ambition to become a police officer. He began his career in 1966 as a Reserve Officer with the Garden Grove Police Department. After Completing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Academy, he hired on full time with PVE in 1969. In 1975, Cpt. Tracy was presented with the South Bay Medal of Valor Award for saving a man who was attempting to take his own life on a rocky cliff. Tracy rappelled down the cliff's edge and grabbed the man before he jumped. Just one of many acts of heroism throughout his career
